Marc Tiles
We Answer Your Questions
Are you planning a tile installation project in Gatineau, Ottawa, or the surrounding area and looking for clear answers before you get started?
Here are the questions our customers ask most often, with straightforward answers to help you make the best decisions.

What Is the Difference between Ceramic and Porcelain?
Ceramic is well suited for walls and low-traffic floors. Porcelain, which is denser and less porous, is recommended for wet areas and high-traffic floors: bathrooms, entryways, and kitchens. We will guide you in your choice based on your needs and budget.
Can I Install Floor Tiles on a Wall?
Yes, in most cases. However, certain sizes and thicknesses are less suitable for vertical surfaces. Contact us to assess the feasibility of your project.
What Types of Tiles Do You Install?
We work with ceramic, porcelain, marble, terrazzo, slate, terracotta, and brick. Whether for floors, showers, backsplashes, or fireplace walls, we can help you choose the right material for your space.
Should the Old Covering Be Removed before Installation?
In most cases, yes. This allows us to inspect the substrate and ensure a stable base. A defective surface can lead to cracks or premature detachment.
Can Tiles Be Installed on an Existing Wood Floor?
Yes, under certain conditions. The floor must be sufficiently rigid to prevent movement that could cause the joints to crack. We assess each situation during the initial visit.
Do You Carry Out Installations Suitable for People with Reduced Mobility?
Yes. We design custom showers and bathrooms : lowered thresholds, non-slip floors, adapted configurations, according to the specific needs of each customer.
How Should I Maintain My Tiles?
Sweep regularly and wash with warm water and a cleaner suitable for your type of surface. For natural stones such as marble or slate, apply a sealant periodically to prevent stains and preserve the material's shine.
Is It Possible to Replace Only a Few Damaged Tiles?
Yes. We offer targeted repair services, and it is not always necessary to redo the entire surface. Tip: Keep a few extra tiles from the initial installation to facilitate any future repairs
